Just a handful of weekend leftovers:

  • The NYTimes gets around to doing some journalism, discovers a CIA project concealed by Dick Cheney. The Democrats may grow a pair and conduct investigations.
  • Green shoots? Robert Reich isn’t optimistic.
  • It must be drugs month at Mother Jones; they’re hosting loads of good articles at the moment. Here’s a useful timeline of the war on drugs’ 400 year history, whilst Ben Wallace-Wells shares 6 fascinating true stories.
  • Anna Husarka complains about the growing militarisation of humanitarian work in Afghanistan.
  • Brad Plumer reports on the new research into sea level rises.
  • And the Ukraine’s decided that a recession is a good time to kill some industries, so pornography & gambling have been banned.
